Description
Arches of Tradition was a mural project commissioned by the Cleveland Museum of Art. It started out as a community mural project. The theme was inspired by the Historical League Park renovation project in Cleveland's Hough neighborhood and by my late grandfather's(Fred J. Brown) love for the game. I chose to illustrate 9 arches in reference to baseball game innings. Each panel is represented by a famous player who played in the the park. The middle or 9th panel (My son and I) represent the parent passing down tradition to the next generation. The arches represent stability and a doorway to the future. The panels are 4 feet by 8 feet each/ 8'x36' total. This piece was created to celebrate community, family, tradition.
